DIY Cupcake Stand Tutorial

Cupcakes are such a fun way to celebrate any party and at a recent birthday party for my daughter I decided to serve homemade cupcakes. But I wanted a cute way to display the cupcakes to our guests. You can of course purchase cupcake stands but they tend to be a bit on the pricy side for something you may only use a couple of times a year. Plus finding a stand that matches the colors of your party them can be hard. So I decided to try my hand at making my own cupcake stand instead.

This simple craft project is both frugal and easy. And the results are great.

Just look at this finished cupcake stand and tell me that is not just too cute?

DIY Cupcake Stand Finished

To make your own it so simple…

Items needed:

  • 3 clean plates of at least 2 varying sizes seemed to work best ( mine are plastic & I got them on clearance at Target)
  • 2 Candle sticks ($1.00 each at the Dollar Tree)
  • E6000 glue

Instructions:

  1. Find the center on the top & bottom of each plate
  2. Apply glue one tier at a time. The directions on E6000 glue say to put glue on each item & let sit for 2 minutes before putting together. I did that. (DO NOT use super glue. I tried it. It doesn’t hold & it makes the glass of the candle holder turn cloudy.)
  3. After gluing each tier set aside to let dry for awhile before using. I used mine the next day with no problems.

And that is it. Three simple steps, a few minutes of gluing and some wait time for the glue to dry and you have your very own cupcake stand for a fraction of the cost of store bought!
